Books That Change Lives

Untitled drawingNow I know that every book lover has at least one book they read in their lifetime that completely and utterly alters their world. Below is a list of some of my world-shattering books. Maybe this will persuade you to read books you’ve never thought of reading before!

Harry Potter

Harry Potter taught me and a vast majority of the world that life can be awesome if you have love in your heart and have people who make you smile no matter what. Harry Potter is a series that literally makes the world feel like it’s shifted on its axis. I don’t even know what my life would be like without it. To be honest, I most likely would not even be writing on this blog right now. That’s how colossal Harry Potter is!

The Help

The Help is first of all a great book to read because of what it teaches readers about the civil rights movement and stuff. It’s a life changing book for me because I identify so much with Skeeter. We are literally so alike in interests and personality. I think for a lot of people, The Help won’t be life changing at all, and they’re reading this thinking “What is this girl talking about?!?” Well, my friend, I’m not saying that The Help is necessarily a book that changes lives. A book with a character you can identify with changes lives!!!

The Great Gatsby

No wonder Mr. Fitzgerald gave his novel the name it has for The Great Gatsby is in fact great! I would even stretch to say it’s grand! Not only does this wonderful tale portray that the past is the past and should stay in the past; it also is a beautifully told story with a beautiful setting, characters, and everything!!! Jeez louise, The Great Gatsby will change anyones life who reads it, I guarantee it! (Just kidding, I can’t guarantee it but it’s like an 80% chance!)

I’ll Give You the Sun

This magnificent daisy of a book is essentially a huge part of who I am. The main message of this book is probably to be yourself and not put on a mask. Every single day, that is probably my biggest goal. So I guess you could say that I’ll Give You the Sun taught me a huge point in life. I’m sure it will do the same for you! Books are awesome, but this might be the best of the best!

To Kill a Mockingbird

Oh my, do I even have to say anything about this book to trump all books. I would love to know how many lives To Kill a Mockingbird has influenced. All I know is that it has influenced mine. It is my humble opinion that everyone should read To Kill a Mockingbird. I mean, I would say what lessons it teaches and whatnot, but what lessons doesn’t it teach? Ugh, it makes me so sad that some people have yet to read To Kill a Mockingbird. If you happen to be one of those people then what are you doing?!? Go to your local library, a bookstore, a stack of neglected books, do something!!! Go read To Kill a Mockingbird! P.S. Sorry, that was probably really aggressive! Don’t do anything you don’t want to 🙂

Well, I guess that’s it! I hope I didn’t scare you away with my excessive rambling. Maybe I gave you some inspiration for some books you want to read next! Or maybe you completely disagree with me. Either way, please let me know your thoughts! I’m super curious as to what other books are life changing! Thanks a ton for diving into my brain and reading my thought!

My Favorite Female Book Characters

There are just some book characters that leave a lasting impression on a person. It’s really awesome when that character is a girl because… GIRL POWER!!! Anyways, here is a list of my favorite female book characters of all time!

  • Hermione Granger, Harry Potter series
  • Skeeter Phelan, The Help
  • Cath Avery, Fangirl
  • Louisa Clark, Me Before You
  • Scout, To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Sam, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Well, that’s all! I’m 100% certain I forgot tons of characters, so please let me know who you would have put on this list. I Hope you agree with my favorite female book characters!

  • The Great Gatsby
  • Animal Farm
  • Of Mice and Men

  • Fahrenheit 451

  • A Tale of Two Cities

That’s all! Let me know what other books should be on this list!

This Raging Light Book Review

This Raging Light is about a girl named Lucille who is just trying to get through life with the relatively bad cards she’s been dealt with. Both of her parents abandoned her, and she’s basically left to raise her little sister. Obviously, that’s a lot to deal with for her, especially since she is only a senior in high school. Lucille isn’t completely alone in all of this, however. She has her best friend, twin brother (who she has a major crush on), and a few more angels to help.

I would definitely recommend this book. It has a similar feel to Jandy Nelson books, which are my favorite. Now that I think about it, however, the plot in This Raging Light is a bit lacking. I’m willing to overlook that for the great writing and characters. This book really puts your problems into perspective, and you really empathize with the main character. She is extremely brave and strong, no doubt a Gryffindor, so you really admire her. Anyways, you should read This Raging Light if you have the chance. It is absolutely going on my favorite book list; it might soon be on yours too.

Sorting The Office Characters Into Hogwarts Houses

the office

Hufflepuff… he’s extremely loyal to Dunder Mifflin

Gryffindor! Jim is overall a very good, honest, and brave person

Gryffindor as well. She would never do anything that she doesn’t believe in

Slytherin… duh!

Ravenclaw. He’s smart, but and extreme jerk

Slytherin. She can be very sneaky to get what she wants

Honestly, I don’t know about Angela

Hufflepuff… he’s very tolerant of everything Michael puts him through!

The only house he could possibly fit in is Hufflepuff…

Gryffindor I guess

He’s definitely not afraid of Michael so Gryffindor!

Ravenclaw because he’s always very level-headed

Meredith is her own Hogwarts house…

July 2016 Book Haul!!!

Jane Eyre

I haven’t considered Jane Eyre before because I presumed I would not be interested in it. This changed a couple of months ago when I found out it was a romance novel. I’m very excited to read a classic like. I will finally get to know what’s so great about this book.

This Raging Light

I forget where, but I heard that This Raging Light is similar to I’ll Give You the Sun. I’ve been determined to get my hands on this ever since. I have a strong feeling I am going to fall in love with This Raging Light!

We Were Liars

I decided to buy We Were Liars because it seems like the kind of book I would enjoy. I feel like many people have read the book, so I’ll give it a try. It is not very similar to the books I normally read, and I’m very interested in it.

The Last Boy and Girl in the World

I don’t really know what this book is about, but I’m very intrigued by it. I’m excited to find out more about it. It should be a fun read.

The Raven Boys

I’ve been meaning to read The Raven Boys for quite some time. It has been recommended to me for I while, and I finally got my hands on it. Though it’s not my favorite genre to read, I’m still excited to read a fantasy.

If you’ve read any of these books, please don’t hesitate to tell me what you thought of them!
